Work Wear Collection 2019

This collection is inspired by Japanese work-wear and the migrant workers of California vineyards; during the wild fires of the past year [2018]. The design and materials are based from Carhartt’s heavy duty hand duck. As an addition I hand picked fabrics that would best fit the work-wear aesthetic. I chose waxed cotton canvas, cotton rip-stop®, plaids, mesh/netting, and assorted tech fabrics. I wanted to design a collection that would work well with the traditional Carhartt brand identity that would add a cultural difference in style, but keep the same hard-working aesthetic. The other half of the collection applies to migrants that are turmoiled by the heat of the California sun. I also created a sample of a dust mask symbolizing the migrant - hardworking mentality throughout their exposure to dangerous conditions. Their prayers for home asphyxiated by heat and carbon.
